GUANTANAMO from the inside: Talk by James Yusuf Yee
*TODAY - Saturday 15th November 2.45 pm*
SUMSA mosque, Martha St (opp. Strathclyde Union).
J. Yusuf Yee is a third-generation Chinese American, a West Point graduate, and a convert to Islam. J.Yusuf Yee is the former US Army Muslim Chaplain of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and author of "For God And Country, Faith and Patriotism Under Fire." His story includes his own personal struggle for justice after being wrongly accused of spying, espionage and aiding the terrorist enemy. Eventually cleared of all criminal charges, Chaplain Yee went on to earn a Masters degree in International Relations, and now lectures on a variety of subjects including Guantanamo Bay and Civil Liberties.
After a hugely successful UK-tour around this time last year (December 2007), we are honoured to have him back in Scotland, to share his experience with us, once again.
Organised by FOSIS/SUMSA; supported by SACC (www.sacc.org.uk)
